Medicinrådet recommended Spravato in November 2025 for moderate-to-severe treatment-resistant depression after at least three failed antidepressant treatments — a reversal of its 2020 position, driven by new 32-week data and a lower price. Rollout starts small by design (~40–60 patients/year within regional hospital psychiatry). A separate recommendation since January 2023 covers acute treatment for admitted patients with acutely increased suicide risk.

No established private infusion market; off-label use sits within hospital psychiatry where practised.

Research-only — but Copenhagen has one of Europe’s stronger scenes for its size: psilocybin studies recruiting at Rigshospitalet (NCT03289949) and Bispebjerg (PsyPal), plus the Quantum Trip alcohol-use-disorder trial (NCT05416229). Note: therapist associations advertising “psychedelic psychotherapy” are not a licensed source of the substances.

The medicinal cannabis pilot scheme (since 1 Jan 2018, any doctor may prescribe scheme products) was made permanent from 1 January 2026 (bill passed May 2025); a subsidy gap remains. Recreational: strictly illegal — including Christiania, where Pusher Street was closed in 2024.
