Psilocybin mushrooms were never scheduled under Jamaica’s Dangerous Drugs Act — cultivation, sale and retreats are fully legal, and the government is actively setting protocols for the sector. One of only two true legal psilocybin markets in the world (with the Dutch truffle market) — and as everywhere: legal does not mean screened; contraindications still apply.

The Dangerous Drugs (Amendment) Act, 2015 decriminalizes possession of up to 2 ounces of ganja (fixed penalty instead of arrest) and allows up to 5 plants per household, while permitting its use for religious (Rastafarian), medical/therapeutic, and scientific purposes without penalty. It creates a new regulatory framework, establishing the Cannabis Licensing Authority to issue licences for the cultivation, processing, import/export, and sale of ganja and hemp (newly defined, ≤1% THC) for medical, therapeutic, or scientific use.
