Legal and assessed, but the NT Council recommends “strongly restrained” use (30 June 2021, revised 6 November 2024) — in practice after roughly four failed treatment alternatives, with each of the 21 regions deciding its own funding.

Off-label use in some specialist and private settings; private infusions in Stockholm run roughly 4,500–5,000 SEK each (full courses 20,000–30,000 SEK), self-pay.

Research-only — but Sweden is one of the better European countries for joining a psilocybin trial: studies recruiting in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Uppsala, Örebro and Lund (cancer-related depression, NCT06319378; anorexia nervosa, NCT07169747).

MDMA therapy is not available in any form, and no Swedish MDMA trial exists.

Only Sativex (MS, specialist prescribing) and Epidyolex have been authorized since 2011; cannabis flower requires case-by-case licence prescription approved by the Medical Products Agency (~15–20 patients). Recreational: strictly illegal, zero-tolerance — use itself is criminal.

Several recruiting studies across five cities — one of the more accessible trial scenes. Participation is free; screening is strict; never pay for “trial access”.
