Inwardbound
Inwardbound is a retreat-center offering legally-operated psilocybin-assisted group and private retreats in the Netherlands (and occasionally abroad). Its main focus is on facilitating psychedelic-assisted experiences, personal development, psychological exploration and integration—combining guided psychedelic sessions with preparation and integration support, somatic practices, and a holistic therapeutic framework rooted in both science and spiritual/traditional approaches.
Service
Inwardbound offers multi-day psilocybin retreats (group and private) in the Netherlands (and Costa Rica for private retreats). Retreat formats include group retreats (small groups up to a maximum of 13 participants) and private or small-group retreats for 1–4 participants. Each retreat incorporates a structured preparation phase, guided psilocybin sessions (typically with psilocybin truffles), and integration sessions. Additional supportive modalities during retreats can include yoga, meditation, breathwork, nature time, community support, and after-care integration work. Inwardbound also provides an online educational/training programme in psychedelic-assisted therapy aimed at mental-health professionals or those interested in psychedelic facilitation, covering topics such as psychotherapeutic frameworks, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, psychedelic science and integration work.
Safety
Participants must complete a medical screening questionnaire, a “Fitness to Participate Declaration,” and a waiver of liability before attending. The retreats are facilitated by an interdisciplinary team including psychotherapists, psychologists, PhD-level scientists and holistic therapists. Group retreats maintain a low facilitator-to-participant ratio (3–4 facilitators for up to 13 participants), facilitating attentive care and support. For legal compliance, retreats in the Netherlands use psilocybin truffles, which are legal under Dutch law according to Inwardbound’s site. The organisation states that its programmes are not suitable for people in a “very vulnerable emotional or psychological state” or with certain psychiatric diagnoses (e.g. psychosis, bipolar disorder, personality disorders) or under certain psychiatric medications, reflecting screening and exclusion criteria to minimize risk.
Care pathway
To participate, prospective attendees apply by contacting Inwardbound and completing the required screening and intake forms. Once approved, participants undergo preparation sessions (including one-to-one and group psychological preparation) prior to the retreat. During the retreat, they join structured psilocybin ceremonies, supported by facilitators, along with complementary activities (e.g. yoga, breathwork, nature time, community support). After the psychedelic sessions, participants engage in integration sessions (group and individual) to process their experience and integrate insights into daily life.
