Overview

Ethna Vernon offers an integrative counselling and psychotherapy practice based in Brighton. We are an Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist.

She offers confidential short-term and long-term work for individuals, couples, children, young people and families. Ethna’s training includes integrative psychotherapeutic counselling, drama and movement therapy, applied systemic family therapy, relational mindfulness and EMDR (Parts 1–3, accredited).

Best for

Ethna’s practice is best suited to people seeking confidential therapeutic support for emotional and relational difficulties, processing past events, and for those seeking integration after non-ordinary experiences (she provides psychedelic integration).

  • Individuals and adults seeking one-to-one therapy
  • Couples and families working on relationship or systemic issues
  • Children and young people needing age-appropriate therapeutic support

Approach

Ethna’s approach is integrative and person-centred: we draw on psychotherapeutic counselling, drama and movement therapy, systemic family therapy and relational mindfulness to tailor work to the needs of the people we see. She combines experiential and reflective methods to help access feelings, bodily experience and relational patterns.

For trauma-related work Ethna uses EMDR as an evidence-informed intervention where appropriate and agreed in assessment. For psychedelic integration she offers reflective, containment-focused sessions to help process and integrate experiences into everyday life.

Support

Ethna holds a confidential, non-judgemental and ethically framed therapeutic space and work with appropriate boundaries and safeguarding for children and young people. She offers both short-term and long-term work and aim to provide clear planning and review points so people understand how therapy is progressing.

Ethna emphasises safety and careful preparation and integration when working with intense material or psychedelic integration, and will discuss suitability and appropriate supports during assessment.
