Tanya Levinson
Tanya Levinson is a contextual behavioural therapist and psychologist who works with adults using evidence-based cognitive and behavioural approaches. The work is grounded primarily in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a third-wave CBT model that focuses on acceptance, values, and committed action within the context of a person’s life. Therapy explores thoughts, emotions, behaviours, values, and life context to support psychological flexibility and adaptation to change.
The therapeutic stance is collaborative, structured, and compassionate, with attention to identity, anxiety, life transitions, and meaning. Sessions aim to create a safe space to understand current difficulties, reduce entanglement with unhelpful thought patterns, and support clients in living in line with personal values.
Service
Tanya Levinson provides individual psychological support for adults. Areas of work include anxiety and worrying, burnout, life transitions and major life decisions, immigration and adaptation, identity-related concerns, self-criticism and perfectionism, relationship and trust difficulties, boundaries, body image, mood fluctuations, and feeling stuck or confused.
Therapy is structured and guided by CBT and ACT models, while remaining flexible to the client’s needs and goals. Work may include cognitive and behavioural tools, values clarification, emotional regulation strategies, and contextual exploration of past, present, and future experiences.
Safety
Tanya Levinson works within a professional framework that includes regular personal therapy and ongoing individual and group supervision. Practice includes the use of informed consent and clear boundaries around suitability for therapy. Referrals to other professionals are offered when a client presents with high suicidal risk or is under 18 years of age.
Care pathway
Care begins with an initial contact to assess fit, goals, and practical arrangements. Early sessions focus on understanding the client’s concerns, life context, and therapeutic goals. A collaborative plan is then developed using CBT and ACT frameworks, with regular sessions supporting insight, skills development, and value-aligned change. The therapeutic process is reviewed and adjusted over time according to client needs.
